Trail Project in Sand Canyon

We have a small trail repair project in Sand Canyon that we are completing on April 28th.  The project is to reinforce an eroded crossing of a wash with rocks to prevent it from eroding any further.  It will involve placing large rocks on the downstream side of the trail and building the trail up with dirt.  The work area is very confined, so we can only use 3 to 5 people in addition to the 3 already lined up.  We will be meeting at 8:30 at the lower Sand Canyon trailhead parking and walking to the work site, located about 2.5 miles from the parking area.  The project will take 2 to 3 hours, so we should be finished in the early afternoon.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact Brent at ravens@frontier.net or 565-4465 (work).

Phil's World is drying out! Please don't forget to renew your annual Kokopelli bike club membership

Phil's World is drying out and should be good this weekend!  Check out the trail conditions at http://kokopellibikeclub.blogspot.com/p/trail-info.html and also "like us" on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/Kokopelli.Bike.Club for up to date info.

Please don't forget to renew your annual Kokopelli bike club membership to help fund these trails at http://kokopellibikeclub.blogspot.com/p/join.html  A significant portion of Phil's World is on KBC leased property which requires expensive insurance and other expenses which your membership supports.  The Kokopelli bike club also has purchased trail tools, covers expenses for trail maintenance and actively lobbies for expanding the local mountain bike trail systems.

See ya on the trail! KBC

Dolores Cyclocross

Fall cyclocross season is upon us once again, and that means the Four Corners Cyclocross Series and Dolores ‘Cross. This year Dolores ‘Cross is Saturday, Nov 10th. We need about 10 volunteers on Saturday to help with registration, course marshaling, scoring/timing, medical, etc; and as many as we can get Saturday morning to help with course set-up. And a handful one evening the week before to clear weeds and agree on the final course layout. Let me know if you’re interested, we really appreciate it! CiclistasdelRio@gmail.com or michaelh@ospreypacks.com.
Thanks!
Michael

Aggressive Dog at Boggy Draw

The Forest Service notified us that an aggressive dog has been reported near the Boggy Draw-Mavericks trails.  The dog is described as a large Rhodesian Ridgeback with a red collar.  Two separate encounters have been reported to the Sheriff's department, one on Friday and one this morning.  The dog has acted viciously toward hikers and other users.  Be careful if you are riding the Boggy Draw trails and notify the Sheriff's department if you encounter the dog.
